The McKellar Public Library is excited to host a special information session with Hospice West Parry Sound on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Over the past several months, the library has been exploring ways to expand community connections and support services for residents. One area that has emerged as particularly important is grief support. Loss touches all of our lives at some point, yet many people face grief feeling isolated or unsure where to turn.
As part of those ongoing conversations, Hospice West Parry Sound will be visiting the library to share information about their programs, services, and the resources available to individuals and families across our region.
Many residents may know Hospice West Parry Sound for the compassionate care they provide, but their work extends far beyond end-of-life support. Their organization offers volunteer visiting programs, caregiver respite services, grief and bereavement support, and community education designed to help people navigate some of life’s most difficult challenges.
This information session is an opportunity to learn more about:
- Grief and bereavement supports available locally
- Resources for caregivers and families
- Volunteer and community programs offered by Hospice West Parry Sound
- Ways communities can foster connection, compassion, and support
- Potential future opportunities for grief support programming in McKellar
For those who have experienced loss, are supporting a loved one, or are simply interested in strengthening community supports, this session offers a welcoming space to learn, ask questions, and connect.
The library is particularly interested in exploring whether there is interest in establishing a local grief support group, and this event provides an excellent opportunity to hear directly from professionals with experience in grief counselling and bereavement care.
